TNB staff to get pay bump

KUALA LUMPUR: All Tenaga Nasional Bhd (TNB) employees will receive a pay increase, following the company’s decision to heed the government’s call to raise the minimum wage.
This was announced by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim during TNB’s 75th anniversary celebration today.
“During the Budget 2025 presentation, TNB’s board of directors and senior management agreed to be the first government-linked company (GLC) to answer the government’s call to increase the minimum wage for employees,” he said in his speech.
“Not only will TNB raise the minimum salary, but its board and top management have also approved a salary hike for all TNB staff.”
He said the pay adjustment showed TNB’s commitment to match wages with dedication and performance, highlighting the company’s role in national development.
Anwar also outlined two main challenges when Malaysia assumes the Asean chairmanship in January – becoming a major energy hub and establishing an Asean energy grid.
“It means that the transmission from traditional sources like Pasir Gudang has to be strengthened along with a new facility, whether it’s energy from Sarawak to Johor or even Laos to Singapore,” he said when talking about the Asean energy grid.
The Asean energy grid is a collaborative initiative among the member countries aimed at integrating and enhancing the electricity supply network across the region.
